Getting to Wadi Rum
Wadi Rum is located approximately 60 kilometres north of Aqaba and 320 kilometres south of Amman. The drive from Amman takes around four hours. From Petra it is approximately 90 minutes. Private transport is strongly recommended – public transport to Wadi Rum is limited and unreliable for tour groups.
What to Do in Wadi Rum
All Wadi Rum experiences are led by licensed local Bedouin guides. A classic half-day or full-day jeep tour covers the main valleys, natural rock bridges, ancient inscriptions, sand dunes and Lawrence of Arabia film locations. Camel treks range from one hour to multi-day journeys. Rock climbing is available on the sandstone formations.
