Dinner and overnight accommodation in Dana.
After an early breakfast, guests meet their trekking guide in Dana Village, perched on the edge of Jordan’s largest nature reserve. The trek begins with a dramatic descent into Wadi Dana, one of the most scenic canyon systems in the country.
The trail winds through rugged sandstone cliffs, ancient agricultural terraces, and seasonal watercourses, passing remnants of historic copper-mining sites that reflect Dana’s long human history. As the path continues downward, the landscape gradually opens toward the vast expanse of the Wadi Araba Rift Valley, offering sweeping desert panoramas and a powerful sense of wilderness.
This day is characterized by long distances and sustained descent, requiring a good level of fitness, yet rewarding hikers with constantly changing scenery and a deep immersion in nature.
Upon arrival at Wadi Malaga, a private wilderness camp is set up in a remote desert setting. Dinner is served under the open sky, followed by an overnight stay in comfortable tents, surrounded by the silence and stars of the desert.
Breakfast at the Camp
The trek resumes with a gradual but continuous ascent from the Rift Valley floor toward the eastern highlands. Today’s route contrasts sharply with the previous day, transitioning from open desert plains into rugged mountain terrain.
The trail crosses dry wadis and rocky ridges, offering expansive views back over the Rift Valley and, on clear days, toward the distant mountains beyond. This stage is physically demanding due to the elevation gain, yet shorter in distance, allowing time to appreciate the stark beauty and solitude of the landscape.
Throughout the journey, the guide shares insights into the region’s geography, nomadic traditions, and the unique ecosystems that shape the wilderness of Jordan.
By late afternoon, arrive at Ras Al-Feid, a scenic highland plateau overlooking the surrounding valleys. Camp is set up in this peaceful mountain setting, where guests enjoy a freshly prepared dinner and a tranquil night under the stars.
Breakfast at the Camp
Today’s trek continues through striking sandstone landscapes and rolling highlands, gradually revealing the first signs of Bedouin life and pastoral activity. The terrain alternates between rocky trails, open plateaus, and narrow canyons, creating a visually rich and varied day of hiking.
As the group approaches the Petra region, the scenery begins to change noticeably — sandstone formations deepen in color, while small agricultural plots and Bedouin camps appear along the route.
In the afternoon, the trail funnels into the outskirts of Little Petra (Siq al-Barid), a quiet Nabataean site that once served as a caravan suburb of Petra. The arrival here marks the completion of the Rift Valley Mountain Trek portion of the journey.
Guests are then transferred a short distance to a desert-style camp near Little Petra, where they can relax, enjoy a warm dinner, and reflect on the achievement of crossing one of Jordan’s most spectacular trekking corridors.

After breakfast, begin a guided hike along the famous Back Route from Little Petra to Petra, considered one of the most scenic and rewarding approaches to the ancient Nabataean capital. This route allows entry into Petra from the less-visited northern side, avoiding the main gate and offering a gradual and immersive introduction to the landscape and history of the region.
The hike starts across open desert terrain and sandstone plateaus, following ancient Nabataean pathways once used by traders and pilgrims. The trail winds through rocky valleys, natural terraces, and wide panoramic viewpoints overlooking the surrounding mountains. Compared with the main entrance, this approach feels quieter and more remote, creating a strong sense of discovery.
After a steady ascent, the trail reaches the magnificent Monastery (Ad-Deir), one of Petra’s largest and most impressive monuments. Time is allowed to rest, explore the site, and admire sweeping views across the Petra mountains before continuing the journey.
From the Monastery, the route descends via a series of stone steps and well-defined paths into the heart of Petra, passing rock-cut tombs, carved facades, and ceremonial structures that reveal the architectural brilliance of the Nabataean civilization.
In the afternoon, continue exploring Petra at a relaxed pace before exiting the archaeological site.

Continue through the main monuments of the Nabataean capital while learning about the history, architecture, and cultural significance of this extraordinary archaeological site.
High Place of Sacrifice Hike
Later in the morning, begin the hike to the High Place of Sacrifice, one of Petra’s most important ceremonial sites. The trail ascends via a series of ancient stone steps carved directly into the sandstone cliffs, following a route once used by the Nabataeans for ritual and religious processions.
As the path climbs, sweeping views open across the Petra basin, the Royal Tombs, and the surrounding mountain ranges, offering remarkable vantage points for photography and interpretation. Along the way, the guide explains the religious significance of the site and the role ceremonial practices played in Nabataean society.
At the summit, explore the sacrificial altar complex, including carved platforms, obelisks, and channels believed to have been used for ritual offerings. Time is allowed to rest, enjoy the panoramic scenery, and reflect on Petra’s spiritual and cultural life before descending via a scenic route through rocky valleys and tomb-lined passages.

Depart Petra in the morning and journey south toward the vast and otherworldly landscapes of Wadi Rum. Along the way, the scenery gradually shifts from rugged mountains to open desert plains, setting the tone for an immersive desert experience.
Upon arrival, begin with a gentle 1–2 hour soft trek led by a local Bedouin guide. Walking at an easy pace, explore narrow canyons, ancient rock formations, and quiet desert paths while learning about Bedouin traditions, desert survival skills, and the deep connection between the people and their land. There will be time for short pauses to rest, take photographs, and appreciate the silence and vastness of the desert landscape.
The experience continues with a one-hour jeep tour, allowing you to explore a wider area of Wadi Rum. Travel through sweeping valleys and across red sand dunes, stopping at iconic viewpoints, natural rock bridges, and ancient inscriptions carved by early travelers. The jeep tour complements the hike by offering both adventure and a broader perspective of the protected desert landscape.
By late afternoon, arrive at the desert camp and unwind as the sun sets, painting the sandstone mountains in warm shades of gold and red. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Bedouin dinner featuring Zarb — a special meal prepared by slow-cooking marinated meat and vegetables in an underground oven buried beneath the sand. This age-old cooking method produces tender, flavorful dishes served with rice, salads, and freshly baked bread.
